Tom Harvey began his career as a jeweler until 1988 when he was hired by the Evansville Fire Department.  At this time, jewelry became a part-time business.  Having an interest in engraving.  Tom purchased engraving equipment to explore engraving jewelry.  In the mid 1990’s, a friend encouraged him to engrave a firearm for him.  That sparked a new interest, he spent the next few years drawing, researching techniques and engraving firearms part-time.  

Retiring from the Fire Department in 2018 gave him the time to engrave full-time for clients, retailers, and firearms for sale.  Tom attained the level of Master Engraver in 2022 from the Firearm Engravers Guild of America.  At present, he is a board member of FEGA and in charge of competitions for the Las Vengas Show.  

Tom has received numerous FEGA engraving awards, including the Engraver’s Choice Award, GRS Artistic Uniqueness Award and Best Engraving Shotgun Award.  He has contributed to FEGA’s auction gun and numerous articles in FEGA’s engraver magazine.  

Tom is also involved with the Colt Collectors Association, where he received the CCA Judges’ Choice Award in 2021.  In 2023, he was appointed CCA Master Engraver to engrave the 2025 Show gun at the All Colt Show in Concord, NC.  Also was selected to engrave the Elizabeth Colt Foundation Single Action to be offered in 2026 in Noblesville, IN.
