Topic: Photo lighting  Number of Responses: 0

I noticed the comments about lighting difficulties when photographing your engravings. I suggest you check out the video section of www.acgg.org as Mustifa Balil did a nice seminar on gun photography and there is lots of good info in the tape. I also did one on photography several years ago for FEGA.

Topic: Membership - from date of renew, vs. July 1 -June 30  Number of Responses: 9

In the past our guild has had memberships run from July 1 - June 30 of the following year, no matter when the person signed up. Our application states "Our membership year runs from July 1 to June 30; renewal notices are mailed in May. We do not have the resources to provide yearly membership on an individual basis. If you join after May 1, your membership will be extended through the next year. If you join before May 1, you will receive all benefits as if you had joined the previous June."
Could we consider changing the membership year to be from when one signs up + 1 year instead of the current method?

Topic: Website Update June 2005:  Number of Responses: 16

As you take a look at the site please let me know of anything which needs to be changed, corrected, etc. If you have questions of how, or why, things work please let me know. I am still working on many areas of the site so please realize it is not yet done. Soon, I plan to add explanations of parts which need clarifying and I will explain how various parts of the site should function.

Topic: L.D. Nimschek - Prudhomme Books  Number of Responses: 1

I have two gun engraving books which the membership might be interested in. The first is the L.D. Nimschke – Gun Engraver by R. L. Wilson, the second is Gun Engraving Review by E. C. Prudhomme copyright 1961. You can find them on ebay as item # 5028241229 and item # 5028240126. I also have a 1975 Gun Digest for sale. These are vintage engraving references for gun engraving.
If you have any questions I can be reached at artg26@cox.net.
Thanks

Topic: Include Website info with letter??  Number of Responses: 2

Also, the letter sent to new and renewing members is a good opportunity to inform them about the guild website. Would you be able to include, information about the site - such as the opportunity for members to have pictures of their work online, and how it works, and how the username and password system now function? The letter also should save you time in the long run from having to explain, or answer questions, over and over again about the new opportunities and methods of the site. If you would like, I would be happy to help you with writing the letter.

Topic: graver's ball?  Number of Responses: 3

Hi,
I am just starting out in engraving and would like to purchase my first graver's ball. I am on a budget, and I don't expect to be working on very large items for some time, so a 15-20lb ball at an affordable price would be adequate; preferably with roller bearings and maybe a way to adjust the resistance/how easily it turns.

Email me at barnest@comcast.net

thanks!

Topic: Share The Vision??  Number of Responses: 1

Recently I received my membership card and a 'thank you' letter - thank you Shannon for sending it.
The letter I received mentioned the "Share the Vision" concept. What is that? Is there mention of it in a newsletter? I must have missed it and I am curious. I don't need a long explanation - I just don't know about it and would like to - and perhaps some of the other board members would like to be informed also.

Topic: Fox Shotgun experts - a question for you.  Number of Responses: 8

Has anyone noticed anything unusual about the Fox shotgun shown on page 15 of the July, Aug., Sept. 2005 issue of the 'Engraver'? Beautiful engraving by a skilled engraver. Just wondering.

What has become of the "How To" booklet which used to be given out to new members? Could we make it available online to our membership?
