Topic: Henry and Harry Kell  Number of Responses: 2

Can someone help with the history of the Kell engraving family. Was there a Henry and a Harry Kell? I believe Harry Kell was taught by his father. So the question might be, what was Harry's father's name?
Thank you for any help, Steve Lindsay

PS.. The new FEGA site and forum looks super!

Topic: STAINLESS, RUGER # 1  Number of Responses: 0

HAS ANYONE ATTEMPTED TO ENGRAVE THE NEW RUGER # 1 IN STAINLESS?

IS IT ENGRAVABLE? OR IS IT AS HARD AND DIFFICULT AS THE RUGER RED LABEL O/U SHOTGUN IN STAINLESS ?

PLEASE LET ME HAVE YOUR THOUGHTS.

THANKS ED DELORGE

Topic: Microscope Store  Number of Responses: 1

Once in a while we all find something or someone we should share with each other. The Microscope Store is one of these. I bought my scope 18 months ago and couldn't be happier. The people at the company are terrific to work with and when I had an issue with a faulty ring light I got a replacement, no questions asked, no returning the bad one within 2 days. I had a clamp on the boom stand give up the ghost two days ago. It was late in the evening, well past normal business hours so I emailed them. When I got up, 6:00 am, I had a reply and the replacements were on the way. Yes I said replacementS, they sent two just in case. Great folks to work with. Danny, Walt are both terrific to work with and very knowledgeble my scope weeb site http://www.microscope-store.com/pro...&products_id=19

Topic: early photos from the Grand Masters Seminars  Number of Responses: 3

I'm out here in Kansas having a serendiptious time with engravers from around the world. What treat to have some of the world's greatest engravers from Belgium, Italy, Austria and of course the US all in one place sharing the common love of the art.

There is much to tell about this weekend, including the annoucement of the Engraving Arts degree by Emporia State University and I will get it all recorded soon, but here are some photos from Friday nights fun gathering.

Topic: Some great learning chances in the next few weeks  Number of Responses: 0

I was just noticing this morning that there are some empty seats in Rex Pederson's, Marty Rabeno and Rick Eaton's basic engraving classes in the next few weeks. If you ever wanted to get a great start with some of the best engravers in the US, now would be the time give GRS a call.

PS: and I have a few empty seats in my October basic class if those other dates don't work for you.

Topic: Looking for information on "bright cuts"  Number of Responses: 0

I would like to know if anyone has specific information, including videos, that are available that would help me to learn to know more about "how to do" bright cutting as I am a new engraver (only about two months experience). I have taken a fine class from Brian Marshall, but would like to know more.... I have a Lindsay engraver and want to be able to use it to do the bright cutting using it. However, I would be glad to learn from any other source as well. Many thanks - I am also new to FEGA and have been reading through all of the comments in months and years past. I would like to corresond especially with those engravers who are close to where I live if they would like to do so. I am willing to call anyone who is willing to take a few minutes - or whatever time you have - to talk. Thanks for all of your help. I should add... I have seen much of the work done by many of you... it is GREAT!

Topic: adobe photoshop workshop  Number of Responses: 3

I just finished watching the Marty Rabeno workshop dvd. This has to be the most useful and clearest explanations of how to use one of the imaging softwares I have run across. Just a great dvd. During the workshop someone asked if the photoshop elements software can do the same steps as the photoshop 7.0 that Marty Rabeno was using, but that wasn't answered during the dvd. I was wondering if anyone can provide an answer to this.
