A number of years ago I heard that Tom Scarberry had passed away. He was an amazing engraver and I am trying to find info. and pictures of his work. He did some work for me and also a friend while living in Fairbanks, Alaska. Any information would be so appreciated.
Thanks,

Topic: Rudy Marek Number of Responses: 8
Just came across your Guild's website searching for new contact info for Rudy Marek -- I can update his info a little.
In 1992 I found Mr. Marek while looking for someone to engrave some gifts. He did these and some more a few years later and I did not try to contact him again until today, when his Banks, OR phone number says it is no longer in service (I live in Portland, OR).
He lived at the address given above when I had business with him. While talking to him in the early 1990s he mentioned his intention to drive to Alaska and stay there awhile - I do not remember more specifics. He had a couple of old military vehicles he had renovated and he said he intended to drive them to Alaska.
He told me he was a lay preacher and did the engraving as a hobby. He did not mention any of the specifics given above in his bio, nor did he mention being a police officer. If I find out more about his whereabouts, I will post it here. |

Topic: Antique engraving tool set for sale. Number of Responses: 7
I am an Antiques dealer and recently purchased a complete set of engraving tools which belonged to John Derr, a Berks County PA gunsmith, who worked from about 1810 to 1860. I was hoping to see if anyone in FEGA would be interested in these great tools, even though I was reasonably sure they would strictly be as a Collectors item. There are 24 tool handles w/blades on top shelf of the home made box, below that area there is a panel that is a hidden drawer. When that is removed, there are two drawers on either side. There must be about 100 extra blades of different types, 2 hammers and a tool to remove the blades from the handles.....I think the blades are case hardened. If anyone is intersted they can contact me via email. Regards, Joanne Conti
