Hi,

There are many books.... before I lay down my money, are there a couple that you would recommend as superb books on scroll design and tasteful composition? Which perhaps, too, might cover some of the near eastern styles in addition to the "classical" style taht I so admire and wish to master.

Very simple....
Both Ron Smith books. There are a lot of other books as well, but if I were going to have 2 it would be Drawing and Understanding Scroll Designs and the Advanced book as well. FEGA also sells a smaller book "More on Scroll Design" as well.
