henry golden boy

My brother has been asked to engrave a henry golden boy. It will be an auction piece and they have not decided on which gun. I am not familiar with these and neither is he. Are there several different models and are some engravable and others not?

Lee
Tell your brother to not even attempt engraving this gun. The receivers are cast, aluminum I beleive, and then they are plated to look like brass. Stay far away from the gun.

Hi Lee,
Watch out, all Henry reproductions are not created equal. The Uberti Henry's are solid brass. I'm working on one. I understand that some of the Henry's on the market called Golden Boy are brass clad over some sort of base metal.
While brass is a soft material it's mushy and takes all kinds of power to cut. The Uberti isn't to bad to cut. The frame is cast brass and is probably dead soft. The side plates are sheet brass and are slightly harder. The difference in hardness isn't much but you can feel it.

Good Luck

Lee,
The Henry brand Yellow Boy .22 is an alloy frame with a clear coat finish in a yellow tint. Stay away..
The BIG BOY rifles made by them are brass frames. I only did some minor lettering on one and it was fine.

I live in NORTHERN Utah not southern. There is a rumour that I was kicked out of Idaho. I respectfully dispute that. I prefer to think of it as I left voluntarily...because I had to. After all I am not the decision maker in the witness protection program. Oooops shouldn't let that slip out. Oh well, I was part of a potato smuggling ring.

Lee - I don't understand how a desperado such as yourself, could have been caught. Tell us were you smuggling potatoes into or out of Idaho.

Lee told me years ago that they smuggle the potatoes into Idaho so they can all play MR POTATOEHEAD. Also his beard is a disguise.
