| Home-made Fixture |
Just thought I'd send photos of the engraver shapening fixture I made from the photos and plan in the last Engraver magazine.
I'm new at this and am getting the tools together to get started and this is the first one I've made.
I engraved the holder for both roll and pitch so it can be adjusted to any needed angle.
Hope the photos are OK.

Hi Jim, and welcome.
You did a great job on the fixture, congratulations.
Hope to see a lot more of your work in the future.
Best regards, John.

James,
Good to see you making the tool. I can't see if you have the flat milled on the upright post from the base on the back side. This is important to keep the front parts repeating in the same position. I like to make most of my tools so if you would like to have plans for a simple rotating holder ($25 dollars for bearings) I can post the pictures.
John Barracough had a drawing at one time of this tool when I was teaching stockmaking and checkering at TSJC.

Hi Les.
Yup, you spelled my name correctly.
I still have a rough drawing and plans of that engravers/stockmakers vise.
I have one and use it very often. I addapted it to a standing post for hammer and chisel engraving.
It also fits into a machinists vise to give easy rotation of whatever you are working on.
Hope you can get the picture to post for you, Lester.
For those that may not know, Les built the cleverest gunstock duplicating machine I have ever seen.
It takes almost no space and costs very little to build.
Stay well, Lester.
Best regards, John.

Hi again, Les.
I see you got the picture of your clever turning fixture attached.
But the little thumb-nail pic won't enlarge for me.
If it doesn't for you you might want to contact the administration.
Best, John.
