Hello to everyone, I have been a Goldsmith and Platinumsmith for 25 years, I have cut several flat steel plates with the gravermax, and the lindsay handpiece, I just learned about the
ATF and have submitted for paperwork, I think I am ok as far as legals and quality of engraving, but I am going to need to cut some actual parts to leave around to take orders on around town, I will pay the gunsmith to take apart the guns, I'll just cut them, any suggestions on where to get blank parts of guns.. Head to your gunsmith or local gun shows. Lots of gun parts are available cheap.

Try to find used cap & ball revolvers as well when you go. It will give you great experience in metal preparation and engraving around the curved surfaces. The metal is very soft so inlay is easy. The nice thing about these is that they can be displayed and a license is not needed. There's no problem federally but double check on the local level.

Hello John, GRS sells rifle floor plates, grip caps and cylinders for practice engraving and demonstration purposes that are ideal.
