Joe worked for Griffen and Howe during the Abercrombie and Fitch days. I met him whenhe was in a nursing home prior to his death in the Bronx. Ironically enough this facility was 2 blocks away from where I was living. FEGA presented him with an award for his fine work and inspiration. John Realmutto from G&H and myself presented it to him. He was a very humble charming man.

Thanks very much Martin. I will forward your info on to the party that asked me for the info. Do you know anyone in the West Point, NY area who might be able to render a decent appraisal of some of his work on a custom hunting rifle? Thanks again.

Mr.Fugger was not only a fine engraver in his own right, he was an outstanding teacher and mentor.
He must be credited with guiding the talents of at least two of America's finest engravers, Robert "Bob" Swartley and Winston G. Churchill.
