About heavy-duty turntable base GRS...

I have a question about. This base is normally used with GRS Low profile vise. Could I use this base with GRS standard block? Are there any problems? I like standard block more than low profile vise.
Many thanks.

Patxi,
I've been using the GRS turntable for several months with the standard block and it works great. The low profile block was developed, I believe, so that the microscope eyepiece height would not be too uncomfortable when the turntable/block combination was mounted on the GRS shelf style bench mount system. This mount has only limited height adjustments, whereas you can mount the turntable at your best height with an adjustable floor pedestal and the height of the block is irrevalent.

The low profile vice reduces the overall distance from the bottom of the base to the eyepieces a couple of inches. If you are very short bodied the turntable could be down on or even in between your knees. This is the circumstance where most low profile users find it worth their while. Otherwise I know of no significant difference except you give up a little mass with the low profile which is no good if you do double guns and like the mass.
