Magnablock lubrication?

Hi all. I'm a recent Trinidad engraving class student and finally got my brand new GRS equipment this week. I've found an air leak in my GraverMax I need to fix so my compressor doesn't keep kicking in, but the really sticky problem I'm having is my Magnablock. It doesn't swivel smoothly. I loosened up the tension, but as I engrave it jumps as it swivels. Quite frustrating. The literature gives no advice on the matter and the office is closed for the weekend. Anyone on line who could give me advice? Thanks. Kate

along with the tension set screw that is on the side of the ball there may also be a set screw on the bottom of the ball that adjusts the clearance between the two halfs of the ball. Just one possiblity.

Thanks Mike. No such set screw, but I've loosened the tension to where one could play a record on it ;-) which will do until Monday. I appreciate your help. Kate

Kathy.........loosen the side scre and take the top half of the ball off....There is a brass plunger that sticks out into the hole.I'll bet you this is stuck from storage olils and needs to be pushed back into thew lower half. You might have to take a pair of tweezers from the outside to pull it away from the center ogf the ball in order to remover the top half. The same thing happened to me on my new vice. Hope your trip home from Trinidad was a good one.

Hi Marty. Thanks for the advice. It worked like a charm. And thanks for such a great class. I made it home several days later after stopping to visit some bit and spur makers and other collectors along the way. Hope your rains put out those fires. It's 95 here today with high humidity. They called in the fire trucks to hose down the kids at soccer camp. Kate
