Orvile Kuhl

I am looking for information on Orvile (or Orville) Kuhl, a firearms engraver who reportedly engraved many guns for clients of the King Gunsight Company, and for photos of examples of guns that he engraved.

Unfortunately, there is very little information that I could find from the "web". I came across one example of a Colt Woodsman with engraving attributed to Mr. Kuhl. Also, I am in the process of obtaing a Smith&Wesson revolver whose engraving is attributed to Mr. Kuhl. This revolver is accomanied by an old yellowed card from Kuhl and Kuhl comany that provides instructions on how to care for an engraved gun.

I would like to learn more about Mr. Kuhl and the guns he engraved. If anyone can provide info or leads, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have looked in our archives and database and can't come up with anything on the name. There is a real lack of information on engravers excepting a few names from the turn of the century until the 1980's. We have tried to compile as much as we can find in our records and if you do find anything more, please let us know so we can update our records.

I am also looking for information on Orville Kuhl. I have a beautiful aluminum engraving of Mallard Ducks done by Mr. Kuhl in 1964. At that time he lived in Walnut Creek, CA. A photo of Mr. Kuhl doing the actual engraving accompanied the Mallard Duck engraving. I would like to know what other types of engravings he has done.
