Reno and my REAL 1911 Pics

It sounds like everyone had a great time and a safe trip!! I feel left out and I will not miss it next year - even if I must walk!!

As a first time attendee, what can one expect to see and how should I be preparing this early on? - # of exhibitors?, range of experience among exhibitors? and Would I get kicked out for displaying something I did??? (ha ha ha)

OK, Now I must post these pictures as an apology for the last photo I posted of this Colt. :)

As a first time attending I can honestly say it was more than I expected. I did not expect the number of exibitors. It's great show with the combination of FEGA and ACGG. Everyone was willing to talk and share. I learned much from the engravers and the gun makers. It's really difficult to stay in one place with so much to see. Then there are the vendors (GRS, Lindsay, NGraver, Sandra Brady, etc.). The dinner was good and the auction was great entertainment. I've been to lots of trade shows and couldn;t wait to get out of the seminars. Not at this show. After the seminars being able to spend time with the great engravers was the whip cream on top of the sundae. I won the Ron Smith door prize and spent an hour talking to him. Not to mention the time with Rex, Marty, John and everyone else (sorry if I did not list you here). The time with these great engravers was better than any other part of the show. Drinks with some people, breakfast with others. They really made me feel welcome.

Don't miss the next one!

Christopher - If what you have to display were equivalent to your Colt 1911 that is shown above then you will have nothing to be embarrassed about. The engraving and your design appear to be nice and clean the inlays look to be well done. I know it can be intimidating to be showing your work up against some of the best engravers of our time. I do not know of anyone who has not had a positive experience at Reno. You will be welcome and you will be given the opportunity to feel the camaraderie.

Christopher,
The Colt looks real nice! I hope you can make it to next year's show and get a display table. As the others said, I think you would find that you would feel welcomed.
