But Marty!.............Don't you remember your brudder baldhead? You shouldn'treat your brothers in baldness that way.:)
Good to hear from you!

Thanks Sam for the phone call. I have to get off of this thing so I can free my phone line.

Hi again Ron.

From your reply to Marty and Sam I see you are on dial-up.
As your home base is a large city you might want to look into getting wirless service from the phone company.

I started with dial-up and it was slow and a pain.
For no more money I got wireless service from AT&T.
It is much faster and you can even use your laptop when you travel.
I know Rex does this and he probably has all the information
Just an idea from a computer dummy!

Hi John,

Glad to have a chance to say hi. I already have high speed in the works. I'm supposed to get my installation disc tomorrow.I wonder how I give you guys my email without it going all over the world? I'm real cautious and i don't want to be on this thing all the time deleting messages. I will probably find out a bunch of stuff when I get my email going. Its a jungle out there. Are you as apprehensive as I am?

Hi Ron

Generally it's not to good an idea about giving your e-mail address out over the net.

However, after a while the spammers will find you. Spam is the name for e-mail junk just like the unsoliceted stuff you get in the letterbox. Depending on who your internet service provider is, hopefully they'll block a lot of it but some eventually comes through. Everything from Viagra to scams offering you money for nothing. When you get a bit more computer savvy you'll be able to set up spam blockers as well.

It's just part of being on the internet unfortunatley.

In saying that my work e-mail address is readily available all over the internet and I don't get too much spam. It only takes a couple of minutes to get rid of it as you soon develop an eye for the "junk mail".

Cheers
Andrew

Hi Ron.
Good to hear from you too.
Glad you're there to help us all now with a comment or two on the forum.
The email thing can be a problem, as you say.
You might just want to send a note by snail mail to those you want to have your email address. That way it's private.
A lot of the snail mail addresses are available on the FEGA site.
Some of the forums have a way to send a Private Message (PM) to another member. This doesn't put your address out to everyone, just that member.
I don't see that feature on the FEGA forum though.
Maybe Bill or Rex knows or could add it ??????
Kevin and Andrew are computer whizzes too, maybe they know.
About spam.... I have a Yahoo screen for sending or receiving email.
Above where I see a list of my incomming mail there is a box that says SPAM. If I don't recognize the senders name I don't open it and click the box ahead of their name and then the SPAM box.
From then on my server blocks all mail from that sender.
Remember Ron, this is from a computer dummy, but it might work for you.
Another thing I found that helped me get a computer start was a program in computer basics for seniors.
$10.00 for a year, four hours a week at the local high school.
Basic and good.
Met some nice people too, some nearly as computer dumb as me!
Best regards, John.

Hi John,
Sorry to say that we really can't add the PM feature to our forum. Most of the other sites run a special program for the forums. Bill put ours together on his own and it seems to work well but adding the PM would be too hard. Maybe sometime down the road we will have to do some more improvements however and go to a different program.

Thanks for the answer about PM's Rex.
Bill Gamradt and all you guys already do so much work.
Sure do not want to add to your load.
Many thanks, John.
