Return from Italian Engravers trip organized by Chris DeCamillis |
I was very privileged to go on this tour to Italy. It is hard to describe the wonderful time spent with these great masters. Our interpreter was Elena and she did a fantastic job of translating our questions.
These masters were so humble. They always offered us beverages when we entered their homes. We stood in their small studios held their work in progress. We studied it with loops and other magnification. Each master has their own style and they willingly answered any questions we asked.
Now that I'm home it's hard to believe this experience really happened. There are some great pictures posted on The Engravers Cafe and on the Engravers Studio if you want to see pictures of these great masters.
The following are the studios we visited:
Creative Arts
Giovanelli
Lionello Sabatti
Pedersoli
Firmo and Francesca Fracassi
Mario Terzi
Pedretti
Manrico Tercoli
Fratelli Dassa
Frederique Lepinois
This engraving world we have is very special and it's so rewarding to see we Americans are building on this art form.
Thanks to all of you,
Glenn

Ditto what John says...it is hard to believe the engraving world has changed so much in the past 30 or more years. Wow!! What a pleasure to see it happen and for those who have participated.
