Tool Sharpening Video |
I just received a new video from GRS on tool sharpening by Sam
Alfano. Just simply supurb. Sam's demonstration on script lettering with a flat graver alone, is worth the cost of the video, much less the wealth of knowledge that is communicated on so many other tools.
Simply put: A must have.

Ed...You are absolutely right! Sam's dvd on Sharpening is something I make all my students watch. It is so well done between the graphics, the way he explains every detail and he makes it so simple. Also Sam has a website, and all newcomers should tune on this one. Keep up the good work.

I broght the same DVD several months ago and it helped me a lot in understanding tool sharpening. As they say "a pictures worth a thousand words". Another tool that's worth adding to the list is Steve Lindsays graver grind that he has on his web site.
One of the hardest things I had to get my head around was the size of everything. Think small and then halve it!!!! My first graver tips were so big that they could carve a channel through to China and looked huge under the microscope. Sams video changed all that.

Sam's video is a good one. I recently purchased the diamond polishing disc's as per Sam's website on polishing a graver. I have never had a graver so polished. They are polished as crisp as a glass mirror. If you need a highly polished graver, you can't polish them more than that. You just have to be gentile with the pads as they are fragile.
