Can anyone recommend a good company to send parts for plating?

hi Barry .. i can tell you of a guy that i use in pittsburgh area of pa. i know that several guild members use him and he is good and good service but don't send any thing to Florida for plating check out my tread i wrote titled ENGRAVERS NITE MARE . i had avery bad experience from a platter in Florida and i had to re engrave the colt all over again when i talked to them they said that they where sorry but could not pay me for doing the work all over i ate 2000. worth of work . see me in Reno and i will tell you the rest of the story .. the co. in pa. is called metal life check out there web site ,, Ron

Barry,
I have used Metalife several times. He knows guns and how NOT to screw them up. I sent him a Colt SAA that was nickel plated and the customer wanted it blued after engraving. He stripped the blue without burning the gun and left NO traces of the nickel. Trying to blue a previously plated gun can be a nightmare because you can't see any traces of the plating until it is blued and then it shows up like a pimple on prom night. I figured that was the best test on his work. The Metalife process is actually a hard crome thing and works pretty well too. It doesn't have the nickel "color" but is very thin and never messes up any engraving or shading.

barry, i use dale broadbent of reliable electroplating in chartley, mass ph 5082220620. he does all my gold plate work. it is the best i have ever recieved from any plater . i got his name from alaimo. he does all of his plating. call him. john pilkington
